Are you also tired of the same old creatures and mythic monsters appearing in every product, game, book, movie and story?
Well, here is the perfect solution for you!
A list of hundred lesser known monsters that people forgot about or didn't know about at all.

No more endless appearances of Zombies, Werewolves, Gorgons (Medusa Version), Minotaurs, Goblins, Harpies, Vampires, Griffons, Sea Serpents, Phoenixes, Rocs, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Ghosts, Mermaids, Lizardmen, Cyclopses, Wraiths, Wyverns, Giants, Satyrs, Hell Hounds, Imps, Trolls, Ogres,  Balrog-like Demons, Krakens and especially D&D-like Dragons anymore, some more creativity would be very, very welcome in games/movies and stories, we've seen everything the cuddly vampires, sexy werewolves and mindless zombies do already, it's time for something fresh to take over.

Some monsters which used to be in this unknown-monster list were released from it in the past few years, I’m talking about creatures like Succubus/Incubus, Will o Wisp, Basilisk, Valkyrie, Kappa, Manticore, Lamia, Kobolds, Gargoyles, the Mongolian Death Worm, Chupacabra, Salamander, Kelpie, Banshee and Scylla here, they are not rare anymore, not as overused as Griffons, but not as rare as the creatures from my list.

Well enough chit-chat, here is the list, I hope you enjoy it and I hope you learn something from it!
But remember, sometimes I give my own little twist/spin to creatures. If you are looking for the correct description of the creatures there is always your happy friend Wikipedia!
For pictures of the creatures you can find most of them in my favorite artwork map ( gancanagh22.deviantart.com/fav… ) here on deviantart.

I also want to give Paizo's Pathfinder, Castlevania, Lost Girl Series, Final Fantasy, Quest for Glory Series, and Megami Tensei a special mention because they DO use lots of rather unused creatures in their Games, Series and Books. Bravo!

NOTE: It's a project in motion, it's not finished yet, I’m trying to do three creatures every day!
Sorry for the many English mistakes I made... I wish I was better, so if you see errors or some sentences which I could have said better and with more style, then please let me know!

TOP 100 OF FORGOTTEN CREATURES FROM MYTH AND LEGENDS!

01: Aatxe (Spanish) - Aatxes resemble ghostly bulls with a bright fiery red skin. They hunt for the flesh and souls of criminals and naughty children from dusk to dawn on nights with full moons, they first gore their prey and then feast on the bloody remains.
Aatxes can't stand the color red and will destroy everything they find with this color, some people even paint the doors of criminals and rivals red so they may get killed by the furious beast during its rampage, wearing or painting something blue however will keep the beast away from you, even when you are a criminal or naughty soul. Aatxes are born from the vengeful souls of slaughtered bulls during bull fights that got mixed with demonic entities when they died. On nights when the Aatxe's are active it seems like the world is ending, screams from doomed souls are heard in every ally, and it seems like a endless stampede is running through the streets crushing all in it's wake. Because their skins seem to dance like fire, connections are made between the Aatxe and the Bonnacon, Crete Bull and Hadhayosh, all bovine creatures with connections with fire.

02: Abaia (Oceania) - These enigmatic eels live in hidden lairs very deep within lakes. They look pretty much like a deep sea version of the moray eel, with all kinds of lights glowing over their bodies. Abaia see themselves as rightful rulers and guardians of the lakes they guard, and while they defend the smaller creatures that live there, they furiously attack anything as big or bigger than themselves, they also attack their own species as only one Abaia can rule over one lake. All smaller creatures that live inside the lake see the Abaia as their rightful Gods and they join their masters in battle whenever needed.
Abaia dislike humans, but only attack and eat them when they catch or threaten the fish/creatures from their lakes, they leave them be if they just travel over the lake with boats.
Abaia have formidable powers over water and the weather and while you can escape a mad Abaia and make it to your village, the heavy monsoons and tsunami's it summons out of revenge will surely mean the end for the entire village. Some Abaia got greedy and took control over multiple lakes, they can sometimes be found out of the water traveling from lake to lake, while they are less powerful outside water, they are still forces to be reckoned with when they fight on dry land, some Abaia however dig rivers between the two lakes they guard and control, so they always have water with them when they travel.

03: Acheri (Native American) - Said to be the daughters of the Horseman of Pestilence, these nasty undead children live only to serve the Gods of Pestilence and to spread their terrible diseases everywhere they go.
Most of them dress like cute little Indian girls and they can hide their hideous diseased skin with shapeshift abilities so they can surprise would-be heroes when they try to rescue them from other monsters like the Chenoo or Yeitso, with which they often work together to set traps for their would-be saviors. Acheri are also often found among other creatures that bring plagues and diseases like the Vrykolakas and Nuckelavee.
Acheri can not only give you any disease possible, they can also absorb the disease back into themselves, for this reason they are sought out by diseased folk hoping to be cured by them, but the price of this cure is often so vile that most folk rather die by the disease they suffer from. Acheri spread diseases only by touch and gaze. The male version is known as Drekavac.

04: Adaro (Oceania) - Everybody fears and hates pirates, but it can always be worse. Adaro are cursed pirates who gained shark-like features to live in the ocean they once sailed upon, they lost their legs and gained a merman-like shark tail in return. Full of bloodlust and with their minds set on carnage they fearlessly attack any ship that they come across much like a swarm of hungry piranhas from hell. Adaro get even more feral and aggressive (if that is even possible) when they hunt during a storm or monsoon or when they smell or taste the blood of their prey.
Only one thing can make them flee, and that is pouring holy water into the ocean. Mermen and other gentle sea creatures hate Adaro and often help fighting them off when they encounter them. Adaro come in many variants, some have hammerhead shark-like features while others have more in common with the much smaller cookiecutter shark, there are even Adaro based on prehistoric sharks, but they are very rare. There are also bigger, giant-sized variants, they are known as Samebito's and they have the blood of the much feared Megalodon running down their veins, they are often found as leaders among the Adaro.

05: Afanc (Welch) - Combining the bloodlust of the alligator with the creativity of the beaver while looking a bit like both, the Afanc is one strange creature to look upon. Afanc's are masters of ambush and dangerous traps, they use the bones of their victims to create the traps with. Afancs love to build entire dams from their victims bones to stop rivers from flowing toward their destination, thirsty villagers that search for the cause of the sudden drought often end up as the next victims of the vile creatures. Afanc make all kinds of awful traps from the bones of their victims, from boney bear traps to spiky pits they hide with leaves. Some Afancs that have more alligator genes went to live inside the sewers of villages and cities giving life to new myths about Sewer Alligators hiding within the sewers feeding on hobo's, pets and children, Sewer Afanc can twist the entire sewer system into a dangerous maze full of deadly traps if they aren't hunted down soon enough.

06: Agloolik (Inuit) - The embodiment of deception, Agloolik are evil, hideous Selkie variants that transform into leopard-seals instead of seals like normal Selkies do, only true Selkies can see through their expert illusions and deceptive aura's. Aglooliks will always search for lonely towns and villages were food is scarce and things are going bad in general to settle near. When they find such a village they start to capture fish and other food for them and help the villagers with their tasks. They however give so much food and take away so much work that the villagers eventually turn lazy and fat in the progress so that they make easy and tasty prey for the Agloolik who helped them. Then one day instead of giving more food they start to demand human sacrifices, if the sacrifices are not made the food will stop, the Agloolik loves the chaos that follows as people don't want the easy life to stop and start to fight among themselves. Some Agloolik however keep their human cattle trapped in the illusion of it helping them and just steals away a lonely human from time to time and blames other predators for it so that the fat peasants will hunt any concurrent (like a Jotunn or Yeti) of the Agloolik down for a crime it didn't commit.

07: Ahkiyyini (Inuit) - Ogre-sized skeletons that use their demonic instruments to control the minds of wild beasts or to unleash the full wrath of nature upon its enemies and victims. Ahkiyinni are mostly found in deep jungles and among coastal areas where their drums will have the most chaotic effects. When a Ahkiyinni plays it's infernal drums animals of all kinds will turn extremely violent and aggressive, and even deer and songbirds start to attack any humanoid creature they find. Plants start to animate into dangerous killers, vines choke, leaves sharpen and thorns are fired in random directions. And nature itself will go out of balance, oceans will turn extremely hostile, creating towering waves, tsunami's, crushing whirlpools and monsoons, in jungles dangerous earthquakes will crush anything in its path and lightning will look like it has a life of its own. The most dangerous Ahkiyinni however can be found alongside a volcano. Nobody knows what drives a Ahkiyyini or when they start playing, but if they do you better make haste to safety.

08: Ahuizotl (Aztec) - Creatures from your worst nightmares, Ahuizotl's look like a mixture of animals randomly put together by some mad Aztec God. Their chaotic bodies contain parts of dogs, monkey’s, jaguars and otters. The most horrid and strange feature of the Ahuizotl however, is it's extremely long monkey-like tail which ends in the form of a large, monstrous claw. Ahuizotl's are probably related to the horrid Crocotta, which would be the land variant as they have the same hunting technique and they are both made up from random animal parts. Both the Ahuizotl and Crocotta hunt with mimicry, a form of deception in which the creatures mimic any voice or sound in order to lure prey close to them, in the case of the Ahuizotl this means towards the water's edge, after which the horrid claw on the end of the long tail will drag the victim to its watery grave. Strangely Ahuizotl only eat the eyes, nails and livers of their victims, the rest of the body they leave rotting for other carnivores they share their lakes with. The (Inuit) ice-version of the Ahuizotl is known as Ugjuknarpak.

09: Aitvaras (Scandinavian) - While the fiery Aitvaras appears as a harmless rooster indoors, once it gets out of this cursed prison it regains it's true form, that of a ogre sized Cockatrice-like Dragon. Everything alive the Aitvaras touches or makes eye-contact with while in dragon form will burst into abyssal flames, making it a very, very dangerous creature to encounter.
The first Aitvaras was born from a Cockatrice egg that was enchanted by Baba Yaga herself. Baba Yaga was searching for a way to control a Cockatrice and make it her pet, she really enjoyed their magical powers to turn everything they touch into statues. The experiment failed however and instead a much more feral creature saw the light of day, the first Aitvaras. Because it was so dangerous (even to Baba herself) she cursed the creature to become a harmless critter inside her hut and it could only take it's true form when it left the hut. The creature spend many years in Baba's walking hut, but eventually escaped. Now it's numbers have mysteriously grown, and more Aitvaras roam the earth, burning everything in their path or spending their days as mindless (but invulnerable) roosters in houses and farms.

10: Akaname (Japanese) - Looking somewhat like a filthy mixture of monkey, cockroach, and human, the Akaname is far from being beautiful. Like the cockroach they resemble, these horrid creatures are attracted to places of filth and garbage. Most of them live inside sewers, places where garbage and filth are gathered, filthy houses and castles. Akaname's are also known as Filth Lickers and for good reasons, they have this extremely long tongue that is dripping with nasty stomach acid which they use to digest even the most hardy of filth with, the acid is so powerful however it can easily burn through metal. Because Akaname's are attracted to filth like a moth is drawn to flame, many people went crazy with obsessive compulsive disorder to keep their things clean, especially since gruesome leftover corpses from hobo's and other filthy low-class were found in their areas. Akaname's have very sticky hands and feet, so they can walk on walls and ceilings as easy as they can walk on the ground, making it difficult to capture one as their entire body is also very greasy and slimy. Groups of rogue Akaname can sometimes be found scavaging behind other dirty and filthy creatures such as Rat Kings, Nuckelavee and Gulons, feasting upon everything those creatures left to rot.

11: Akhlut (Inuit) – The ultimate top predator of the tundra regions comes with a nasty surprise! There are many strange and bizarre chimaeric (creatures with two or more different animals mixed together) in the world of legendary creatures, but none of them are as bizarre as the Akhlut.
These feral creatures combine the features of feral dire wolves with those of killer whales. Being shapeshifters they can shift freely from orca form into wolf/orca hybrid form to travel instantly onto land, surprising would be escapers that fled to land while being chased by its orca form. Akhlut tolerate no other predators in their hunting grounds, and fights between Akhlut’s and Kokogiaks aren’t rare, while the 10-legged polar bears are bigger, the Akhlut are smarter and more powerful, making them mostly the winners of such titanic fights. Akhluts are chaotic neutral creatures, but they enjoy the flesh of humans as much as the flesh of other animals, making them extremely dangerous toward humans. While both orca’s and wolves hunt in large packs, Akhlut’s are always solitary, they fight off their own kin as furiously as they would other predators.

12: Al-mi'raj (Arabic) – Who would suspect a small and cute little rabbit to be the ultimate killer? Almiraj’s shouldn’t have to worry a bit about getting hungry as most of their prey come to them, would it not be by mistaking the Almiraj to be their prey, then it would be because foolish humans want to get their unicorn-like horns that are said to hold magical properties of healing and luck. Almiraj are hunters of hunters, they feed mainly on large predators such as lions, wolves and panthers that mistake them for prey, they are so extremely aggressive that most of their prey paralyze when they find out they just turned into the prey themselves. Some people believe that Almiraj were created by the Gods to get rid of a overpopulation of predators that grew too fast and which killed too many herbivores in one area, since then however the Almiraj became a plague themselves, while there aren’t many of them cuz they eat each other just as easily as they eat other creatures, one Almiraj is enough to lay waste to an entire small village or area. They look like small-dog sized rabbits with a large unicorn-like horn on their heads, their fur is mostly white, but green and yellow specimens are also known to exist.

13: Alp-luachra (English) – Most people think of cute little butterfly-winged creatures when they picture a fairy, the truth is that not all fairy-species are that cute and kind and there are many nasty and evil variants out there to. One of them is the gluttonous Alp-luachra, which is a ugly, nasty parasite fairy looking somewhat like a wingless, slimey, salamander-faced fairy grub covered in slime and tentacles, their mouth is very wide and big as they are extreme eaters. Extremely gluttonous and lazy the Alp-luachra will slide down sleeping creatures throats, which they first paralyzed with their paralytic slime, then settle inside their stomach to eat away everything the host-creature eats, this is always fatal for the host.
Alp-luachra are known to turn their victims into feral, gluttonous eaters, as their victims even start to attack and eat their own pets and family members out of pure frustration and hunger. The slime of the Alp-luachra makes the victims mind very hazy so they can think of nothing else then food. The best way to get rid of the Alp-luachra is by eating magical salt which will dissolve the creature entirely. When the host dies the Alp-Luachra will burst from the creatures stomach and will search for a new victim. They are cursed themselves and will never grow bigger, it doesn’t matter how much they eat they will never get satisfied.

14: Ammit (Egyptian) – While a creature composed of parts of lions, crocodiles and hippo’s may sound silly to you, the Ammit is one of the most dangerous creatures in this list. Also known as Eaters of Souls, Soul Eaters, Ammut, Ahemait and Devourer their most famous role in stories is them being the favorite pets of the Gods from the Underworlds. All nasty and filthy souls the Gods disfavor are fed to the Ammit, a task the Ammit enjoys a little bit too much as they often torture or play with the lost souls before they actually eat them. Souls eaten by the Ammit are lost forever and they can never be reborn, saved or resurrected by any means, even a wish won’t work as the lost souls will dissolve in the belly of the beast into nothingness.
Other than eating the souls of the doomed and cursed, the Ammit are just lazy beasts that sleep their time away in royal pools created for them by the Gods or terrified mortals that serve the Gods, they can sometimes be found in the armies of such Gods when they go to war, the Gods are often found riding them into battle.

15: Ankou (French) – Collectors of Souls, the Ankou are evolved Grim Reapers that collect the souls of other creatures like it’s some sick game.
Ankou often compete with each other for “special” souls, like souls of the very rich, those of rare creatures and the holy souls of kings and other landlords. They enjoy the souls of gentle creatures more than the souls of evil creatures, as they enjoy the suffering it brings. To steal a creatures soul the Ankou first has to slaughter the creature with its cursed scythe, then capture the soul inside its macabre lantern which burns with a black flame of pure doom, the corpse of the victim is always animated into a zombie minion. When a Hero slays an Ankou, all the souls it ever captured escape and go to the place they should have gone when they died, is it Elysium or Hades. Ankou are often found with Barghest and Baykok minions which help the Ankou hunt for powerful souls, some folk call this the Wild Hunt. In area’s haunted by the Ankou many people and animals start to die and lots of lesser undead monsters appear to terrorize the streets and forests around the towns as they are drawn in by the smell of despair and fear the Ankou brings with it.

16: Antaeus (Greek) – There is nothing more frustrating for a Hero than fighting with a terrifying Antaeus, as they just seem to regenerate any damage done to them. Also known as Earth Trolls, Sons of Gaia or Soil Giants, the Antaeus is a nasty Troll variant born from flesh and soil, mixed and forged into a magical and feral new creature by Gaia herself. Gaia created them long ago for guardian purposes, but after many centuries and much corruption from Hags, Warlocks and other nasty creatures the Antaeus were corrupted into evil bullies of the weak. They are extremely arrogant and pretty smart for a Troll-species and they always rely on their extreme regenerative power to help them survive any battle. The only way to destroy a Antaeus for good is to lift its earth-like body into the air and keep it separated from the soil it loves for over fifteen minutes or so, after that time the Antaeus body starts to die and rot, the most easy way to do this is with teleportation magic, trapping the Antaeus into a trap cage far away from soil.
Antaeus have many powers over earth and soil, they can form the earth around them and inside their own bodies into any shape they desire and can cause minor earthquakes and shocks to send their rivals and enemies flying.

17: Argus (Greek) – The perfect guardians, these creatures are covered with eyes all over their bodies, and never seem to close all of them at the same time except when they die. Sleepless creatures, the Argus takes its guardian job to higher levels and really seems to enjoy it. The first Argus was created by a greedy Goddess, and because it was such a success to her, she created many more to guard her treasures all over the lands, and so Argus spread throughout the lands. While the first Argus was created as a handsome giant covered in eyes, the magic that created this handsome version was difficult and hard to come by, so all the other Argus were created as hideous and deformed giants covered in peacock-feather-like eyes, while they were much more ugly than the first Argus they were much stronger as well, they were also more greedy and evil and some of them started to rebel against the Goddess who created them, they eventually even killed the Goddess and the first Argus who took her side, and now the remaining Argus roam free, still taking pride in guardian jobs all over the land, but they can never be trusted as they are very greedy and murderous themselves. Argus have bizarre abilities which makes them able to peek into the near (only a day away) future events like an Oracle can, they can see the future around creatures they look upon and sometimes even get visions about how the creature will die eventually, for this reason many other creatures and humans seek them out for information, but mostly these creatures are eaten or crushed instead as the Argus quickly gets bored with this Oracle job. The Japanese version of the Argus is known as Hyakume, and the Inuit frost-version is called Isotoq.

18: Asag (Arabic) – Few other creatures are as hideous and terrifying as the Asag’s are. Appearing as humanoid toads made entirely from sharp stones and rocks, the Asag is a Ogre sized demon variant that can walk on two legs but mostly walks around on all four limbs much like a real toad would.
Like the Surinam Toads they resemble the Asag can spawn smaller rock minions/brood from its back, these Dwarf-sized minions are just as ferocious as their parent creature and will attack other creatures the first moment they are born. As horrid as they appear to be, the parent Asag will devour its own spawn after all other creatures are killed, it simply re-absorbs its spawn back into its foul body, only to summon them again when it finds another powerful victim.
It can spawn five spawn at one time, and it can see through the eyes of the spawn as well, making them perfect spies for the mother creature. All Asag are female creatures and the only way new Asag’s are formed is when a single spawn isn’t absorbed back into the mother creature so it can grow on its own to become a whole new Asag itself over time. Like all demons, Asag are very weak to holy powers and especially holy water kills off Asag’s fast, they often flee when they smell holy water. Asag are most often found in mountains, rocky area’s and swamps.

19: Aswang (Philippine) – Horrid undead creatures with the souls of demons gnawing inside their rotting bodies, Aswang come in many variants.
Every variant of the Aswang family can separate from some of its body parts, like Manananggalans can shed their entire winged upper torso from the rest of their body to hunt, the nasty Penananggalan can do the same with its head and entrails, the bizarre Berbalang can separate from its own spirit to form a team of spirit and flesh, and the ordinary Aswang can shed off every single part of itself to become a swarm of body parts all together, holding down victims with their separated hands while the entrails suffocate the victim by the neck, the head is eating away the fingers of the poor victim, while the eyes of the Aswang are hanging above the scene to feast on the horror it releases into the atmosphere. There may be many cruel creatures in the world, but the Aswang of every variety are bringing it to a whole new level. Aswang enjoy to torture and feast on pregnant creatures most of all, they also enjoy the flesh and fear from children and babies, which makes them extra hated by all other creatures, when a Aswang is known to haunt a area, many different species and creatures of every alignment work together to destroy it.

20: Bakekujira (Japanese) – Enormous forces of bitter vengeance and extreme hate, while the Bakekujira may be a monster like no other, the creature started out as a victim itself.
Bakekujira’s (also known as Ghost Whales) are undead whales that were reborn as undead by their own hate for the humans that hunted them down and which caused their unnatural deaths. When whale hunters fail to capture a whale they have harpooned, and the whale eventually dies from the wounds they have caused to it, some whales return to this unnatural undead state by their own will to take vengeance upon everything they encounter. At first the Ghost Whale still has its cursed flesh on its bones that many oceanic creatures crave for, however when they eat from this unholy, poisonous and cursed flesh they turn into undead minions themselves, doomed to forever follow the Bakekujira’s commands and will until the creature’s vengeful spirit is finally laid to rest. Because of this the immense creatures are often accompanied by countless of undead sea birds, fishes, sharks and even undead Adaro, Siyokoy and other sea monsters. There are cases known where even undead Scylla and Charybdis were found among the undead minions, but such cases are thankfully very rare. After all the cursed flesh is eaten away the skeleton whale and its many minions are spending their cursed days tracking and destroying every vessel and ship they find. The most famous and dangerous of the Bakekujira’s is known as Moby Dick, once a proud white spermwhale it now spends its vengeful days as a much feared Ghost Whale, the bane of every pirate and captain alike.

21: Barghest (English) – Also known as the Hounds of Ill Omen, Black Dogs, Doom Hounds, Black Shucks, and with flying versions called Yeth Hounds, the Barghest look like large Mastiff, Doben or German Shepherd Dogs made entirely from a strange shadow-like material. Barghests are favored by many evil creatures, undead and humanoids as hunting dogs, trackers, guard dogs and evil familiar pets, the dogs themselves don’t mind the job as long as they are kept satisfied with live victims to torture and “play” with. Nobody knows where the first Barghests came from, and it’s one of those secrets people better leave uncovered. The terrible howls of the creatures are said to bring bad luck and despair to whomever unfortunately to hear them, Barghests are attracted to lone villages where things are going bad, so that their Ill Omen howls and aura’s can make the situation even worse, they thrive in the sadness and fear they spread.
One in thousand Barghests born turn out to be twins, in which case one of the two is a larger black Barghest made from the same shadow-material as normal Barghests, but its twin appears to be a white variant made entirely from bright white light that is almost holy to the eye. These are called Cadejo’s and for every kill the black Cadejo twin makes the white Cadejo twin saves a life by removing a disease or by saving a creature or person from a disaster or attack, they are said to be the living incarnation of the Yin and Yang sign.

22: Batibat (Philippine) – Because the Batibat is so incredibly ugly, fat, big and savage, it’s very hard to make a link to the beautiful and gentle Dryad with whom they are related. Some folk believe the Batibat to be corrupted Dryads, while others think they are Dryads who died by the hands of nature-molesters and which were reborn in some more feral and powerful form to take vengeance with.  Batibat are very vengeful creatures, they never commune with creatures that violate their forests and always crush them right away without conversation, unlike their Dryad sisters which first want to talk the violators out of it.  Because they aren’t nature’s fastest creatures, many creatures can flee from them, but this is where the true nightmares starts.  A Batibat makes a connection with every creature that violates her forest, and can haunt their dreams every night until they are dead or cured from this torture, in these torturous nightmares the fat creatures sit down on the chests of the victims every night, turning their sleeps very unpleasant and smothery, every night the nightmares get worse and more painful and the victim will eventually die from exhaustion or through suicide.
The only way to end the nightmares and to stop the torture is by planting a new tree next to your bed, while the tree will eventually destroy your entire house it makes even with Batibat as you also destroyed part of her own “house” (the forest or the tree she lives in)

23: Baykok (Native American) – When fanatic hunters or rangers come to die during a hunt on full moon, their spirit can’t find satisfaction and rest, so they return as Baykoks the night after they have died. Master trackers and hunters, the terrifying Baykok look like floating undead horrors with deformed bird-like feet and they are dressed much like Native American hunters, with feathers of rare birds covering their clothes and skin. All Baykok wield this horrible magical bows that almost never miss their target and they have two magical arrows that track down their targets wherever they flee.
Baykok’s love to hunt for powerful creatures and heroes because they gain a very big thrill from hunting such masterpieces. After they killed their target they eat the livers and take the eventual items, weapons and skulls for trophy’s. Because they are the perfect hunters, trackers and archers they are often sought out by evil warlocks, necromancers and liches which want to force the Baykok into becoming their best trackers, hunters or bodyguards, Baykok don’t really enjoy such jobs unless they are assigned to hunt down powerful heroes or monsters for their masters, whenever possible the Baykok turns against his temporary master and kills or destroys it to regain its “freedom” so it can continue with its endless hunt for the perfect trophy and liver. There is a version of Baykok that only hunts for magical creatures and wizards, it is called a Mokoi.

24: Black Annis (English) – As the most horrid and evil of hags, the Black Annis live up to their nasty reputation.  Annis Hags live inside horrid huts made from human skin and from the bones of their victims. They love to slay, torture and hunt for young victims as those individuals are most missed by their loved ones and their deaths bring with it the most grief and despair.  Most Annis Hags look the same and appear as ogre sized-but extremely thin elderly women with horrid features such as dirty gnashing teeth and dirty tangled black hair, their hands are their most horrid feature and dangerous weapons, they have grown into extremely large claws with sharp and long nails growing from them which they mostly use to tear bones free from the flesh.  Some Annis however look very different and more “human” than other Annis, they all have gotten different names by people that live in the area’s they haunt, they mostly build different houses not made from skin and bone, like one individual was known to build her house from candy and lovely smelling food to lure in naïve children, the most famous Annis hag however is known as Baba Yaga, which haunts area’s with her chicken-legged hut of doom.
Annis Hags are cruel beyond measures, they often torture the families of their victims with macabre presents with parts of the families killed loved ones in it, like delivering a package with the child’s hand or eye in it. Black Annis are also responsible for the creation of many other magical creatures, their most famous creation is the Bloody Bones. Huts of the Black Annis are often guarded by Trolls, undead horrors or even by Giant slaves which all fear the Annis beyond everything else, and for good reason!

25: Blemmyes (Medieval) – A race of headless, wide-bodied humanoids with eyes and a very large mouth placed inside their chests, within this huge maw are even larger teeth and the sight of a Blemmyes makes most other creatures cover in fear.
There are two variants, the giant-sized Blemmyes is the larger and more dangerous variant and the human-sized Acephali are the smaller and much weaker variants, both species however are famous man-eaters and notorious cannibals of their own species, when a Blemmyes or Acephali dies during a battle for example, the entire herd of other Blemmyes/Acephali pause the fight to devour their fallen comrade first, their eating habits are so horrid though, this won’t take much of their time as they are extremely fast eaters, eating an entire Centaur in under five minutes, some people call them human piranha’s for this reason. As dangerous and fearless as they are, they are still often found under the command of more powerful and magical creatures such as Black Annis, Campe, Popobawa and most of all Wendigo’s which they view as their Gods and creators as Wendigo are the embodiment of cannibalism which they claim to be a holy act. While the Blemmyes always fight with their huge maws, the smaller Acephali are known to fight with primitive weapons and tools like axes and spears made from rocks and bones.

26: Bloody Bones (Scottish) – The first Bloody Bones was created long ago by a Annis Hag that captured the naughty and problem-seeking children of a kind and loving father, when the man freed his children from their cages however he became the Annis victim instead, and after months of torture and keeping the poor man’s broken body alive with magic, the Annis grew tired of the game and skinned the poor man of all his skin, tore away his lower body and turned him into the horrid abomination and now much-feared boogeyman variant known as Bloody Bones. The newly created monster’s first victims were his own naughty children, their death didn’t satisfied the monster however and soon countless of other children found their death at the hands of this new aggressive and hungry form of boogeyman.  Bloody Bones look like skinned humanoid creatures which crawl around on their horrid long arms, their lowerbody seems to be torn away and dragging behind the creature are its entrails which now look more like alien tentacles, it always leaves a dirty trail of diseased blood behind wherever it crawls, creatures that touch this blood and die by it become Bloody Zombies, Bloody Skeletons or when they are evil enough, new Bloody Bones.
While Bloody Bones attack most creatures they meet, they enjoy eating, slaughtering and scaring young children most of all, probably because they caused the first man who became a Bloody Bones its suffering by being such naughty children and disobeying his rules so that he eventually ended up in the Annis torture room himself. There are many rhymes and songs about the Bloody Bones, and parents tell their children to behave nicely or else the Bloody Bones may hide in the cellar, closet or under the stairs to feast on their bones.

27: Buggane (English) – Said to be the primitive version of the Ogre, these half-ogre and half-mole creatures live deep within the underworld hidden away from their prey. Buggane’s are blind creatures and see the world through vibrations, they come out in the open world only during the night to snatch away some farmers or lone hermits to feast upon deep underground. Buggane’s have extremely powerful claws like those of a mole and are known to dig through diamond, the only material they can’t dig through is adamantium, their only real weakness is sunlight and other bright light. Buggane crave for the flesh of Death Worms and Minhacao above all else, and there are cases known in which a Buggane saved people from such worm attacks by bursting from the ground in a ravage of earth and rocks to slaughter the worm-monsters to eat, leaving the humans in peace. Buggane are to dumb to be really evil, while they sometimes love to toy with their prey like a cat does, they aren’t fully aware of the pain they bring with their horrid claws and teeth.
Buggane are very protective of smaller fae/faerie like creatures, when they find a fairy or other small fae creature they guard it with their lives. The fae rather enjoy this big, dumb guardian and often are seen playing with them, while this is good for the small fae, it makes the Buggane more hostile toward bigger creatures as it thinks everything is a threat to the faeries it protects. Buggane are sometimes used as bodyguards for important and royal fae of Seelie and Unseelie variants, but because they can't walk the earth during daytime they are more attractive for evil unseelie leaders and elders.

28: Cactus Cat (American Cryptid) – While the bizarre Cactus Cats appear to be mountain lions or lynxes with cactus-like skin, the truth is that they are actually plant creatures. Cactus Cats are masters in both offence and defense which makes them very wanted by other creatures as small tank-like pets for their armies, especially the evil Ghul enjoy to have a few around at their lairs for guarding duty. Every part of their spiky bodies can be used as weapon or shield, they have dangerous claws and paws with needle like nails growing out of it, their entire body is overgrown with cactus needles, their head is like a storm-ram used for head butt fights much like a Stygimoloch Dinosaur had, with needles growing from all directions which makes the head butts even more fatal, the tail ends in an Ankylosaurus-like club weapon used to smash open their prey to feast on the blood inside. Cactus Cats only drink the blood of their prey and never eat the flesh, they leave the blood-drained corpses laying around for other predators to eat, sometimes as lure so they can attack the scavengers as well. Cactus Cats often share their environment with other bloodsucking creatures known as Chupacabra’s and the two creatures hate eachother with passion, fights among the two species aren’t rare and while the Cactus Cat is much more powerful the Chupacabra’s always travel together in larger groups to even the odds.
Cactus Cats are also known as Splinter Cats or Sliver Cats, but some people think that while they are related they are different specimen all together.

29: Campe (Greek) – Like the Echidna, Lamia and Python, the Campe is a Drakaina species, female dragons with human features somewhere in their bodies, in the case of the Campe this is a rather bizarre way of crossing human with wyvern. Campe appear as brightly colored Wyvern dragons mostly with brightly green/yellow or purple/pink combinations that lack eyes of any kind and have a nasty alien beak instead of the normal wyvern maw, on the end of their tails however grows the upper torso of a very attractive female human which has the same colored hair to match in with their wyvern body. Nobody knows if both heads have a brain of their own, but it seems the female human part of the creature is the leader of the two parts, it makes the decisions for it and is the only part of the creature that talks, the wyvern-like beak is mostly used for eating and tearing at their prey. Bizarre beyond words these Amphisbaena-like horrors often hide their wyvern body in lakes or behind trees to lure in male prey with their human female parts, after they lured the human prey close they surprise the victim with an aggressive and sudden attack of the wyvern part of the body, with their ability to charm male creatures this often is a very easy task. Campe or Vouivre as they are also known as only eat male creatures, they will still kill female creatures if they have the chance tho, but never feast on their flesh. Nobody knows how new Campe’s are born or created but it’s highly obvious that magic is involved in the creation of the beasts.
Dragon versions are known to exist too, these more powerful Campe have dragon bodies instead of wyvern bodies and giant female bodies instead of normal human bodies.

30: Charybdis (Greek) – Famous, notorious and feared among sailors from all over the world, nobody really knows what the dreaded Charybdis looks like as no ship survived a full attack from the creatures and the creatures often hide deep within a magical whirlpool which they summon when they sense a ship or food. Some say the Charybdis looks like a giant isopod-like horror with a very round and cavernous maw with which it creates the deadly whirlpools, others say it’s a water elemental creature that becomes a whirlpool itself, while wise wizards think it’s a type of mutated sea serpent, dragon or giant sea anemone.
While Charybdis are known to attack any other creature they meet, from Sea Dragons to the largest of Akhlut, they share a deep respect for the Scylla, they often follow a Scylla like a pet would, they protect the Scylla and keep her company wherever she travels, the Scylla itself enjoys the company and often keeps parts of her victims for the Charybdis to feed upon.  Some wizards believe the Charybdis to be the daughters of the God(s) of the seas and oceans, others say they are cursed creatures that spend their early days as Nereids that were cursed into the  horrid forms they are now, one thing is sure however, the gluttonous Charybdis are shrouded in many unsolved mysteries and they mostly love to gorge themselves on food of all types.

31: Cherufe (Mapuche) – Said to be the will, mobility and voice of the volcano they live in, the Cherufe are creatures made entirely from hot, boiling lava and magma. Cherufe don’t leave their hot volcano homes often, but when they do they bring ruin and destruction wherever they go, they often travel to close cities and demand sacrifices from the people living there, if they don’t give the creature virgins, children, pets or heroes to feed upon the creature threatens to summon an eruption from its volcanic home to destroy the entire village, mostly this lie works pretty well and sacrifices appear every now and then to the lazy creatures doorstep, but if the villages ignore the creature it may attack the city/village instead and not much weaponry or magic is a match for a creature made entirely from hot magma and lava.
Cherufe are ageless and immortal creatures, they only die when destroyed and can live without food, eating weaker creatures however gives them great pleasure so they often want to snack on living things anyway, if it’s not for the lovely taste it brings then for the pleasure of being cruel bullies or bringers of burning death. Cherufe enjoy having a feared title and love creating nasty reputations for themselves, it’s like a game to them, the more feared and known it gets the more foolish hero-snacks end up right in front of their doorsteps.
Only spells that summon a lot of water can really hurt a Cherufe badly, but only when they are caught outside their volcano homes as inside their volcano homes they are practically invulnerable, of course there are also magical weapons that can kill or harm the creatures, but getting your hands on those weapons is a dangerous task itself as only the evil graeae hags know about the materials to create such weapons, and they aren’t eager to share their knowledge about these materials for free.

32: Chon Chon (Mapuche) – Flying down on their prey like a horrid swarm of hungry bat-like human heads with batwings instead of ears and needle like teeth, the ChonChon are feared by many for their blood-draining swarm attacks. Hiding in dark and almost inaccessible caves during the daytime, the entire undead swarm bursts from its hiding spot during nighttime to hunt for fresh blood. When a ChonChon swarm drains a victim of all its blood the undead curse that gave the chonchon's their unnatural life will spread into the killed victim, and the victims ears will mutate into batwings after the head tore itself free from the corpse to join the ever-growing swarm. The first ChonChon was created by a vengeful warlock who cursed his own head into becoming this horror upon his dead, after that the cursed disease spread with every kill the creature made and now after centuries there are millions of them swarming about in multiple swarms all over the world.  There are also some close-related creatures of the ChonChon which share some looks and abilities with them, the Japanese Nukekubi is the most well-known of the ChonChon offshoot , they lack the batwing-like ears and just appear as human heads with needle like teeth flying around hunting for prey during moonless nights, Nukekubi’s are said to be still attached to a human body, and during daytime they return to their body to walk in the daylight again as normal humans.
ChonChons have a horrid screech or sonar attack which paralyzes the weak so they can be drained of blood even more easily.

33: Chrysaor (Greek) - Ugly, bad-tempered creatures born from the blood of the first killed Gorgon, Chrysaor roam this earth in the form of a humanoid, demon-winged boar mutant. Like their Gorgon parent, these horrid creatures have magical blood that spawns other creatures when it leaves the body and mixes with the soil, in case of the Chrysaor their blood spawns swarms of stinging, aggressive tiny scorpions that are extremely poisonous, when their blood hits flesh or skin however it not only burns the skin it also spawns a fleshy scorpion from the flesh which leaves horrid wounds to the victim. Chrysaor are often found among Gorgons as bodyguards or among Orcs or Berserker's as leaders and warlords, they love to command armies of the weaker creatures to attack random villages and cities with, the power gives them pleasure, ruling over other creatures is what Chrysaor love to do most, the only creatures they really care for are their ugly boar-like pets they are mostly seen with, often in the form of Erymanthian Boars, Calydonian Boars, Ypothrylls and the horrid Gloson which has a terrible sail of sharp spikes on its back which it uses to cut other creatures in half with. They hate beautiful creatures with furious passion and always attack the most beautiful enemies first.
When these horrid creatures die their heart mutates into a giant scorpios monster which bursts free from their body to attack the one that killed their “parent” Chrysaor, it makes one hell of a death throes attack.

34: Djieien (Native American) - Also known as Lich Spiders because their bizarre ability makes them somewhat related to such undead horrors, Djieien are dog-sized camel spiders that burry their own beating hearts inside the ground or inside other creatures or objects so that their body will be immortal and can't be destroyed unless you find its hidden heart.
Their bite is lethal, but before the slow spreading poison kills you, it will turn you into a mindless puppet that protects the Djieien against everything that threatens it, even putting their own lives at risk to save that of the small spider creature that bit them. While Djieien aren't undead creatures they become undead when their hearts leave their body, and while enemies can destroy this body and tear it apart limb after limb, it will regenerate the full body back the minute it got destroyed, only if you crush their hidden hearts the creature will truly meet its end.
Most Djieien burry their hearts inside Golems, very powerful monsters such as giants, dragons and other such immortal creatures with which they often make a deal with, or inside the ground in hidden tombs that are almost impossible to find and are swarming with deadly traps. Djieien are mostly found in ancient tombs, deserts and warm and rocky hills.

35: Dobhar-Chu (Irish) - While the Dobhar-Chu are related to the otters they resemble a bit, they have rainbow-colored, reptilian scales and are nowhere as kind and gentle as their much smaller relatives, they despise other otter species and kill them on sight while leaving the corpses to rot as they find the flesh of otters distasteful and unworthy of eating. Dobhar-Chu have this cute, puppy-like eyes they use to lure other creatures close to the waters edge, then they surprise them like a crocodile would, leaping out of the water with their huge, deformed and out-of-place looking jaws and teeth, tearing the victims to shreds in seconds. Dobhar-Chu are just as playful as their otter relatives, but their playing style is savage and cruel, tearing off arms and legs and eating them in front of the horrified victim, or working together in teams of two to tear the victims in half by both pulling on one leg or arm at the same time.
Dobhar-Chu are by far the fastest and most nimble creatures living in water, they often share their lakes, rivers, streams and ocean homes with more powerful creatures like the Abaia and Ahuizotl, while the Abaia attack the annoying creatures on sight as they kill too many creatures living inside their lakes, the Ahuizotl enjoys their company and often use the most powerful Dobhar-Chu as it's most loyal right-hand.

36: Draugr (Norse) - Brought back to the state of undead by mysterious powers and curses of the sea, the Draugr are powerful drowned pirates, sailors, barbarians and captains that once sailed the seas with pride and now do so again with bitter hate and an uncanny lust for bloodshed. Only the most powerful and strong willed sailors return as draugr to sail the seas again with their cursed and haunted ghost ships. The most powerful Draugr were created from the ranks of pirate and barbarian captains which also gained magical abilities with their new undead forms. They can summon magical mist, and their ghost ships are always shrouded in thick layers of sickening, cursed or suffocating fog, they have limited powers of the winds and waves to make their ships go even faster so no other ship can escape their wrath. The ships these Draugr sail upon are ghost ships and the curse brought the entire ship with its entire crew to life, the ship follows every command of the Draugr Captain and when the ship is destroyed the entire Draugr crew will perish with it. While most Draugr haunt oceans with their Ghost Ships, there are also solitairy Draugr's that haunt the lonely rivers, lakes and swamps they drowned in.

37: Dullahan (Irish) - Feared by all creatures in possession of a head, the macabre Dullahan, or Headless Horsemen as they are also called, ride through the dark forests from dusk to dawn to collect the heads of all creatures foolish enough to enter their domain or which stole something from their mysterious collections, even when the item wasn't in the Dullahan's collection yet but on its strange wish list. When they sense these magical items no barrier can stop them from collecting it. Many people became more careful in buying strange items on black markets, as the object they bought there may be on the list of the Dullahan, and when it comes for the item it will take the entire families heads with it as well.
Dullahan are cursed fae, they were once arrogant and proud Elves or Erlkings that were beheaded for serious crimes against the fae courts and cursed to roam the earth forever on their magical black stallions while holding their once proud head underneath their arms. They create whips from the spines of their victims and collect the heads of their victims to feed to their birth-tree, which are giant macabre trees which hold a special connection with a single Dullahan, if they feed enough heads to this giant tree the Dullahan believe their curse will end, cutting down this tree with a golden axe is the only way to kill a Dullahan. While Dullahan are too arrogant to work for anyone but themselves, they are sometimes forced into serving more powerful evil creatures such as Ankou and other powerful Fae.

38: Echeneis (Medieval) - Looking somewhat like mutant remora fish with the appetite, behavior and size of a great white shark, the Echeneis are in possession of many bizarre and strange abilities.
They have limited magnetic powers over metal and they can slow or even stop time within any object or creature they attach themselves on with their sucker-like heads, they often use these deadly abilities to destroy ships or boats with so they can feast on the morsels that land in their waters. While its unsure where the first Echeneis came from, they are thought to be the creations of a mad Sea Hag or Qalupalik that needed a powerful tool for destroying ships with so she could take whatever possessions ended up in the water while her pets took care of the surviving humans in the water. Echeneis are often found among raids of Siyokoy and Adaro as well, which use the monsters as steeds and secret weapons to easily disable the ships with their magnetic and time slowing abilities so the monstrous humanoids can feast on the humans without getting their fins dry.
Juvenile Echeneis are often captured by land dwellers to function as tools for painless operations, healing and in some cases even for slowing down time on pregnant women so they don't give birth too early.

39: Empusa (Greek) - Notorious man-eaters, the sexual Empusa combine the most beautiful and worst features of both the mantis and a female demoness, looking a bit like a centaur with mantis features instead of those of a horse the Empusa's arms end in mantis-like scythes so they can hold their male victims tight before eating them alive, their bright-green hairs move like they are on fire.
Empusa are the monstrous creations of Hekate, the Titan-Goddess of the underworld and of magic that is also known to be an extreme feminist, they command Hekate's every wish and are extremely loyal to her, when Empusae kill a male victim they always praise Hekate and ask her permission first.
Hekate created the Empusa long ago to hunt for brutish and abusive men that treat females without respect, but the Empusa turned out less caring for which male they eat, and almost any male will do.
Another offshoot of the Empusa family is known as the Mormo, they appear more humanoid and less centauric than Empusa are, they only have the mantis arms and two mantis-like legs which end in sharp points, they dance into battle and are extremely limber in their chaotic movement which looks more like a dance of deadly lust. Many Empusae are commanded by Hekate to guard their Lampade sisters, which are also the favorite children of Hekate.

40: Enenra (Japanese) - Whenever an evil person with a dark soul burns down into a pile of ash by demonic fire, their spirits will sometimes merge with those of demons, creating the elemental demons known as the Enenra. Made entirely from living smoke, the Enenra loves nothing more than forcing itself into a human host, possessing the poor souls body and controlling it like a marionette from the inside out until it gets bored with it and burns itself out of the host that instantly immolates before the eyes of a great crowd, as Enenra love to shock great groups of other creatures like it's a performance of a lifetime they are giving away, they revel in the horror such sudden and cruel death scenes bring.
While inside the host the Enenra loves to create and spread as much chaos and confusion as possible before it will burn itself out of the host, often they set the hosts own house aflame and call for help, when enough crowd has gathered around the burning hovel the Enenra start sharing the hosts most dark or well hidden secrets about other people living inside the village, then when people start to argue and fight among themselves about the secrets, the Enenra surprises the entire angry mob by revealing its true self, burning out of the poor human shell until nothing more than ash and smoke remains. Magical wind spells are the best way to deal with the cruel Enenra Demons, and these magical winds can even be used to force an Enenra out the body it possesses.
